Update on 295 days of GDPR

Dr. Jan Valentin Deichsel shared his experiences on the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation in a panel discussion on 16.03.2018 in Berlin.

The discussion took place with lawyers from other European countries and thus gave a good insight into the status of implementation as well as open questions, which nearly a year after the entry into force of the GDPR are numerous.

In addition to the question of which sanctions have been applied by the data protection authorities so far, the focus was on the distinction between controllers and processors as well as on whether consent is always the safest approach in data protection matters. In addition, the handling of cookie banners and online tracking tools still raises many questions in practice, which were also part of the discussion.

The panel discussion was part of the AIJA seminar "Smart - Up" in Berlin. AIJA is the International Young Lawyers Association, bringing together international lawyers up to the age of 45.
